DAY Tours / DAY EXCURSIONS

In combination with your safari or your incentive trip we organize Day excursions. Most of the day trips below start in Arusha but we can also organize day excursions and special arrangements on the beach or in the bush. Contact us for further information and custom price

Example of day trips we organize:

Arusha National Park

We pick you up after breakfast at your hotel in or near Arusha and we drive to Arusha National Park with pic nic box. The entrance gate to the park leads into shadowy forest inhabited by inquisitive blue monkeys and colourful turacos and trogons and it is the only place on the northern safari circuit where the acrobatic black-and-white colobus monkey is easily seen. In the midst of the forest stands the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater, whose steep, rocky cliffs enclose a wide marshy floor dotted with herds of buffalo and warthog.

Further north, rolling grassy hills enclose the tranquil beauty of the Momela Lakes, each one a different hue of green or blue and often tinged pink with thousands of flamingos. You often see giraffes, antelopes, buffalos, zebra and many other wild animals during a day trip to this beautiful park.  Mount Meru - the fifth highest in Africa at 4,566 metres (14,990 feet) dominates the park’s horizon. Its peaks and eastern footslopes protected within the national park, Meru offers unparalleled views of its famous neighbour Mt Kilimanjaro, while also forming a rewarding hiking destination in its own right.

Coffee tour

We take you to a coffee farm a few km from Arusha town in Nkoaranga Village. First, your local guide will show you the village and tell you about its history. You will visit a primary or secondary school, and as you walk to the farm you will see small shambas (farms), where people grow banana, maize, beans and other vegetables and fruits. The farm you will visit is also the coffee nursery. You will learn and see the difference between organic and traditional coffee farming and see how coffee is grown from young trees to when it is picked.

After walking down to the main house you are invited to a big Tanzanian lunch in the garden. You can taste local and traditional food such as chapatti, ugali, roasted banana, rice, spinach, salad, goat meat and fresh fruit of the season.

The last stop is the coffee roasting factory. Here, you can taste freshly roasted coffee while you see the process of the roasting and grinding coffee. You will get a free bag of your favourite coffee bag to bring home.

Day trip to Tarangire National Park

After en early breakfast we pick you up and drive to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive. The drive from Arusha town to Tarangire takes about 2,5 hours and you will most likely see animals very soon after passing the entrance gate to the park. We bring lunch boxes with us and have a nice pic nic in the middle of the park. Or we stop for hot lunch at Tarangire Safari Lodge where you can also rest and relax by the swimming pool during the hottest hours.

Baobab trees and elephants are the main sights in Tarangire. It is common to see large family groups of elephants in the park and game-viewing in Tarangire is usually very good, with plenty of giraffe, warthog, waterbuck, impala, zebra, ostrich, buffalo and many more animals.

We return to Arusha in time for a late dinner. It is possible to extend this trip to include an overnight in the park.

Day trip to Lake Manyara including cultural experience

We take you to Lake Manyara National Park for half day game drive and we visit the village Mtu-wa-Mbu. You can choose between a guided walk through the village which provide a great introduction to everyday life in Tanzania, or a visit to a local farm and learn about irrigation system that sustains local crops including rice and 32 varieties of bananas. Another option is to spend a full day inside the park before returning to Arusha or spend the night in a lodge nearby.

Day trip to Ngorongoro crater

We organize day trips or overnight trips to the famous Ngorongoro crater.  The day trip starts with a very early departure from Arusha, taking 3hrs to get to Ngorongoro Conservation Area gate.  We descend into the crater before noon enjoying viewing a lot of wildlife.  Lunch at the lakeside.  Continued game viewing until we ascend the crater in the late afternoon.  Drive back to Arusha for drop off at your hotel in time for dinner.

The crater has been described as one of the great natural wonders of the world. Eight million years ago, the Ngorongoro Crater was an active volcano but its cone collapsed, forming the crater that is 610 meters deep, almost 20 kilometers in diameter, and covers an area of 311 sq. km. The crater is home to many species of wild game and birds, including the endangered black rhino.

Arusha cultural city tour

Get to know the people and nature around Arusha. We visit a local school, the local market and Shanga shangaa – a very special workshop run by handicapped people. We have a wonderful lunch booked near town and return to your hotel in the afternoon. If you want more, we can start the day with an early morning hike to nearby waterfall on Mt Meru.
