Dream safari using Tanganyika Wilderness Camps and Lodges

Day 1
Arrive at Kilimanjaro airport. Transfer to Olasiti lodge just outside Arusha for dinner and overnight. FB

Day 2
After breakfast drive to Tarangire national park for half day game drive. Pic nic lunch in the park (lunch boxes from Olasiti). Dinner and overnight at Maramboi Tented Lodge. FB

Alternative – stay at Maramboi two nights. Go straight to the lodge in time for lunch the first day, and then have a full day game drive in Tarangire the next day. At Maramboi you have a small swimming pool overlooking Lake Manyara and the plain.

Day 3
Drive to Lake Manyara National Park for half day game drive. Pic nic lunch in the park (lunch boxes from Maramboi or for bigger groups we recommend hot bush lunch from Kirurumu). Dinner and overnight at Tloma Lodge in Karatu. FB

Note! The government plan is to connect the south side of Lake Manyara where Maramboi lodge is situated, with Lake Manyara National Park so we think that in the near future you can drive along the shore instead of using the tarmac road, when getting to Lake Manyara NP.

Day 4
After breakfast drive to Serengeti. Enjoy your lunch box at Olduvai Museum, visit a maasai village and do game viewing along the way. The camp in Serengeti has different locations depending on season. FB

Day 5
Still in Serengeti. We use the Serengeti camp as a base for game drives, a break for a sumptuous lunch, a respite from the heat of the day and the finale to a day adventure where stories can be swapped around a fire. During the game drives we hope to see lions, cheetah, leopard, hyenas, thousands of zebras, antelopes, elephants and much more.

Luxury camping means feather pillows, soft towels, gin and tonic on the rocks, good food in a candlelit dining tent far from civilisation. The tents are comfortable, with a veranda in front and directly behind the tent a bathroom with hot-water shower and toilet. You sleep in real beds with a bedside table and gas or solar lamps.

Sleeping in a tent is part of one’s wildlife experience in Africa. When you arrive back at the camp after a day of game viewing, the day doesn’t end. There are still the night skies to look at, the camp fire to sit around and all the sounds from the wildlife to enjoy.

Day 6
We drive back into Ngorongoro Conservation Area with lunch boxes and game viewing on the way. Arrive to the crater in time for lunch. Half day game viewing in the crater. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Farmhouse. FB

Alternative: you can stay two nights at Ngorongoro Farmhouse in order to get more time in Serengeti and a full day game viewing in the crater. At Farmhouse you can also enjoy massages and guided walks to mention some activities.

Day 7
After breakfast drive back to Arusha in time for lunch at Riverhouse (Shanga Shangaa) and then some get transfer to Arusha airport in time for the flight to Zanzibar and yet another adventure along the Indian Ocean, and others return home full of stories and most likely with a wish to return soon. FB

Alternative: Fly Inn Safari – drive one way and fly to or back from Serengeti. For more information about this option please contact us directly.

Price: for prices please contact us direct with details such as amount of people, age (for children), time of the year and wishes.

For extentions to Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro climbing, trekking in Ngorongoro highland or cultural visits to the Hadzabe tribe – contact us for further details and prices.
