TAILORMADE SAFARIS

our safaris

Safari means to travel in Swahili, usually with the sense to travel great distances thus including some form of nightly rest spent on the route. Our speciality is to tailor the safari to suit your wishes and your budget. We know the bush and the animals and will advise you so that you can get the best value for your money. Here we give you some examples of the safaris most commonly asked for that we offer.

Classic safari Northern Circuit
This is the most frequented route by tourists, for two reasons: most of the parks are fairly close to each other and many of Tanzania’s most famous sights are all part of this circuit. This safari usually covers Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Serengeti and lasts for 6-10 nights. You spend the night at tented lodges, hotels or luxury lodges depending on your budget and wishes. We will advise you where to stay to suit the time of the year and your wishes. You can combine this safari with day hikes and cultural visits. Most visitors choose to spend a few days on the beach after a classic safari but you can also climb Kilimanjaro or return back home. Either way we promise you the experience of a lifetime.

Tented Lodge or Luxury Lodge
In Tanzania you can choose among a wide range of accommodation such as tented lodges, luxury lodges and hotels or camping of different styles and comfort. Staying in tented lodges is one of our own favorites – you combine the comfort of staying in a hotel with the closeness to nature that sleeping in a tent means. To sleep with only the tent canvas between you and nature is truly a wonderful wildlife experience in Africa. When you arrive back at the camp after a day of game viewing, the day doesn’t end. There are still the night skies to look at; the camp fire to sit around, and even night game drives at some places.

The camps are often small, friendly, comfortable and secluded. Tents are spacious with their own bathroom. There is mostly hot and cold running water and flush toilets. Electricity and hot water is mainly provided by solar power which makes this to be close to Eco tourism. There is a dining room and bar under traditional style thatched grass or canvas roof. In short – a tented camp combines authentic safari atmosphere of ‘nights under canvas’, with more modern comforts.

Example of a tented lodge is Tarangire Safari Lodge, Serengeti Simba Lodge, Tindiga Lodge, Kisima Ngeda Lodge, Ndarakwai Ranch, Maramboi and Lake Masek Camp.

Do you still wish to have yet a bit more comfort and stone walls between you and the wildlife, you can choose to stay in one of the lodges in the parks – choose between simple but comfortable lodges at a good price or spoil yourself at one of the more luxury lodges. We can offer lodges and hotels from one star* to 5 stars ***** in all the parks and places to visit. It all depends on your dreams and your budget. Read more about different accommodations in the section Where to stay.

Cultural Safaris
A cultural safari is when you travel for several days staying in local guesthouses and private homes, eating local food and visit local schools, farms and projects. This is easily combined with the classic safari, climbing Kilimanjaro or with lazy days on the beach.

Safari Southern Circuit
This safari usually means 2-8 nights in Selous Game Reserve, Ruaha National Park, Udzungwa Mountains National Park and/or Mikumi National Park in combination with a visit to Zanzibar, Chumbe Island or Mafia Island.

KILIMANJARO
This fairytale mountain is the highest one in Africa, 5896 metres above sea level and permanently snow-capped, and is also the highest “free-standing” mountain in the world. Kilimanjaro has two peaks that can be seen in Tarangire on a clear day.

There are coffee plantations and cultivated land at the foot of the mountain. Those wishing to climb it have several routes to choose from. Marangu (1550 m above sea level) is the usual starting point.

To climb Kilimanjaro is an adventure for the fit even though it is more walking than climbing, the altitude can take its toll. But we can offer different routes and our guides always take good care of each client. It is easy to combine climbing Kilimanjaro with a safari in the Northern Circuit or a relaxing stay at the beach.

BEACH ADVENTURES
The beaches and islands of Tanzania is well worth a visit, a perfect place to relax and process all impressions from you safari or to relax your muscles after climbing Kilimanjaro.

The paradise island of Zanzibar is well known, but is still genuine with long, white beaches and not too many tourists. Here you can relax in the sun or fill you days with activities such as diving, snorkelleing, boat rides, swimming with dolphines, deep sea fishing, spice tour och a visit to beautiful Stone Town.

On the mainland we can recommend a visit to Pangani, a remote resort where you can enjoy the ocean och tranquility at one of the cozy lodges by the beach. Enjoy the cuisine by the beaches and on the islands which is mainly fresh seafood.
